Surf Stadium Japan Is Coming Soon

American Wave Machines, which powers the BSR Surf Resort in Waco, Texas, is an epic wave making technology, attracting surfers from all over the world to surf in Texas. Soon, Japan will be getting their own American Wave Machines powered surf park, called Surf Stadium.

For more, check the press release from Surf News Japan, roughly translated to English below:

Surf Stadium Japan Co., Ltd., which is constructing an artificial surfing facility in Shizunami, Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture, has significantly renewed its official website. It seems that the construction has been proceeding smoothly, and the new official website has the latest drone photos showing the current construction status and the latest information such as facility information and usage fees. In addition, “Japan’s unique technology” at the facility, which has introduced the same American Wave Machine wave-making device as the BSR surf resort in Texas, is also introduced.

The height of the waves can be output from below the knee to the overhead, but in commercial operation it is up to 160 cm. Normally, 3 sets of continuous waves are scheduled to be created at intervals of once every 30 seconds, and it is possible to ride for about 10 seconds with one wave.

In addition:

・ The size of the wave changes with beginner, middle and expert every hour (1 session).

・ Compatible with both regular and goofy directions

・ It is possible to freely create wave peaks. Also compatible with tubes, maneuvers, and aerials.

It uses the same AMERICAN WAVE MACHINE “Perfect Swell 240” as the Texas BSR resort, but it incorporates Japan’s unique technology. There are three types of filtration methods, sand pad, diatomaceous earth type, and cartridge type, and this facility uses the latest sand type, which is the most resistant to water quality fluctuations in large facilities. The landmark is the huge round tank in modern blue color.

As a thorough backwash measure, double gutters for water distribution are installed at the beach. Since it will not be affected by the turbulent flow, the effect on the shape of the wave and the generation time will be significantly reduced.

While the opening time has not been revealed yet, the construction seems to be progressing steadily. Although there are no details on the official website, there are also menus for “RECRUIT” and “RESERVATION”, which shows that preparations are steadily progressing toward the opening of the business. I would like to look forward to the follow-up report of Surf Stadium Japan, whose opening has finally become a reality.
