Teaser version of Thomas Kinney’s presentation at Surf Park Summit 2 on September 7, 2016. A summary of Thomas’s BE Honours thesis research with a focus on discussing findings applied to the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a wave park design and engineering tool.
BIO
Thomas Kinney: “For my Honours thesis I am conducting research for Webber Wave Pools through the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The thesis is to be submitted in journal article format for completion of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) majoring in Ocean Engineering, which I am undertaking as a collaborative degree offered between AUT (New Zealand), AMC (Australia) and UTAS (Tasmania). Through this research I am gaining experience in the use of CFD as well as other wave park design and engineering technologies. Going into the future I aim to further pursue my goal of combining engineering design and surfing; my career and passion.”
